The Tanners League Triples Charity Competition took place at Old Shrewsbury on Sunday 24th August 2025. Each team had to have at least one Tanners League player, the games were timed for one hour and they were played in very good spirit.
In the quarter finals the MER team (Mel Wornell, Elias McNichol and Rachel Harrison) lost 18-3 to Team Hotch (Andy. Nicki and Holly Hotchkiss). The Meole Brace All Stars (Rena WIldblood, Bernard Lowton and George Jones) lost 11-7 to Dust It (Emily Hotchkiss, Sam Desborough and Logan Church). The Coffin Dodgers (John Ramsey, Pip Pugh and Kev Farr) lost 17-13 to Branston Hill (Alex Evans, Neil Hyde and Martin Cousins) and We’ll Never Bowl Alone (Mike, Oliver and Toby Gray) lost 21-4 to Hello Kitty (Mark Harris, Gary Neal and Danny Wornell).
The semi-finals saw Dust It win 18-3 against Team Hotch and Hello Kitty win 17-8 against Branston Hill. In the final the Hello Kitty team continued their good form to win 18-2 against Dust It.
The Competitions Secretary, Richard Jones, presented the prize money and the Tony Poole Trophy to Dan, Gary and Mark. He thanked Old Shrewsbury Bowling Club for their hospitality and also everyone for attending on the day and for the donations and raffle prizes. The charity chosen this year was the Alzheimer’s Society and the money raised will be donated to them.
