The Tanners League Handicap competition took place on Bank Holiday Monday 5th May 2025 on two running greens at Greenfields Bowling Club.   An excellent entry on the day of 60 players competed with everyone guaranteed two games with the main competition and consolation competition.

The main competition quarter finals were played on the Number 2 green and the results were Mark Owen (Crescent) 21 – 19 Kev Farr (Old Shrewsbury), Dan Jones (Castlefields) 21 – 19 Andy Cooke (Hanwood), Tom Harrington (Ludlow Castle) 21 – 17 Alan Hotchkiss (Crescent) and Perry Evans (Monkmoor) 21 – 14 Lee Walmsley (Prince Hotel).   Very good semi-finals saw Dan winning 21 – 9 against Mark and Perry 21 – 12 against Tom.   Both players played very well in the final with Perry coming through to win 21 – 14 against Dan.  The Ray Powell trophy was presented to Perry.

In the consolation competition the semi-final results were Emmet McKinley (Oxon) 21 – 17 Kieran Walker (Castlefields) and Jacob Wall (Castlefields) 21 – 11 Dave Peach (Castlefields).   In a super final Jacob, a member of the new Castlefields junior team, won 21 – 20 against Emmet.

After a long day thanks were extended to Greenfields Bowling Club members and greenkeeper for their hospitality.   Thanks were also extended to Mike Caddick, League President, for his help on the day.
