After postponement due to the bad weather the previous week, the Tanners League Charity Triples competition took place at the Prince of Wales Hotel on Sunday 15th September. Each team had to have at least one player from the Tanners League, the games were timed for a 1 hour duration and they were played in very good spirit despite further rain on the day.
In the semi-finals a team from the Prince Hotel, Dan Wornell, Gary Neal and Chris Jones, won 18 – 10 against another team from the Prince, Chloe Wilson, Donna Larke and Emily Hotchkiss. The other semi-final saw Mike Binnersley, Chris Slawson and Martin Weaver from POW BC win their game 18 – 4 against a team from Hadnall BC, Elaine Jones, Ann Breakwell and Louisa Goff. In the final Dan, Gary and Chris won 23 – 4 against Mike, Chris and Martin. Thanks were extended to Mr Tony Poole for presenting his trophy to the winners.
The Competition Secretary also thanked Ruby Hartshorn, Chair of the charity SAFE PLACES SHROPSHIRE, for attending the competition and to everyone for taking part, donations and raffle prizes etc. Charleigh Butler, Bob Pugh, Greenkeeper, and the Prince Hotel staff were thanked for their warm hospitality and efforts on the day.
