The Annual General meeting will be held at Old Shrewsbury Bowling Club on a new date of Thursday 5th March 2026 at 7.30 p.m.

2026 is the 100th anniversary of the League and to mark the occasion a special Doubles Competition will be held together with a formal dinner at the end of the season.

The Management Committee are recommending that the Shropshire League on a Friday consist of three divisions. Based on the current number of 31 teams the split will be 11:10:10.

This would mean that four teams will be relegated from last season’s 1st Division and no teams will be promoted. The reason for this recommendation is that several clubs struggled with the extra midweek fixtures in 2025 (4 Wednesdays in the 1st Division and 6 in the 2nd Division). In view of the number of teams being relegated/not promoted in relation to the 1st Division the Management Committee are recommending that the new 2nd Division also become 12 a side with the 3rd Division 10 a side.

In the Shrewsbury League on a Tuesday there will be once again four divisions with the composition being 12:10:10:10, based on the current number of teams. As announced at the 2025 AGM the Management Committee are recommending that the 2nd Division also be increased to 10 a side in line with the 1st Division as they seek to return to the pre Covid position.

The Management Committee are also recommending a number of rule changes, these include:

  • Rule 8k       Results to be entered on the system by midday following the match (currently 24 hours)
  • Rule 8s       Once a player has played 10 matches in the Premier League they will not be able to play in the Shropshire League (currently by 1st August)
  • Rule 8y       Registered Players – clubs with two teams in the same division must register 8 players for 12 aside, 6 for 10 aside, 4 for 8 aside who  can only play for the one team  (currently 10:12, 8:10 and 6:8)
  • Cup Rules All rounds to be played  home and away apart from the Final (semi finals are currently played on neutral greens) and teams to be with the League Secretary 5 days before the Final (currently 7 days)

The League will be seeking to appoint a new County Delegate and Competitions Secretary.
