The Tanners League Doubles took place on Sunday 29th June at Castlefields Bowling Club. There was another good turnout of 22 pairs who coped well with the hot and humid day on the two tricky greens.
In the quarter finals the results were:
Matt and Dan Parry [Unison] 21 – 11 v Tony Wall and Lewis Hanmer [Castlefields/Prince Hotel]
Carl Bowers and James Mansell [Hanwood/Crescent] 21 – 13 v Alex Evans and Harry Ryder [Crescent/Battlefield]
Dan Wornell and Mark Harris [Prince Hotel/Crescent] 21 – 2 v Darren Powis and Nigel Ferrington [Prince Hotel]
Craig Charles and Rob Morris [Telepost] 21 – 17 v Neil Ashley and Tom Stanhope [Prince Hotel].
In the semi finals Matt and Dan lost 21 – 9 to Carl and James and Craig and Rob lost 21 – 18 to Dan and Mark. In the final Dan and Mark continued their good form to win 21 – 10 against Carl and James.
The Terry and June Sambrook League Doubles trophy was presented to the winners by Mike Caddick.
The Competition Secretary thanked all for attending and for their support. Also thanks were extended to Mike Caddick [League President] and to the members of Castlefields Bowling Club for two excellent bowling greens and hospitality, in particular to Mike and Sheila Rogers and Craig Elson. Thanks were also extended to Boels Rental for sponsoring the competition.
