The Tanners League Mixed Doubles for the Frank and Mabel Edwards Trophy took place on Sunday 14th September at the Prince Hotel.
Following preliminary games, the quarter finals saw Dan Wornell and Nicki Hotchkiss (Prince Hotel) win 21-19 against Paul Bishop and Wendy Jones (Shelton), Ian Marshall and Claire Barker (Prince Hotel) win 21-8 against Alex Evans and Jane Archer (Bayston Hill), Jamie Brookes and Julie Jones (Battlefield) win 21-9 against Rob and Linda Jones (Prince Hotel) and Lee Walmsley and Charleigh Butler (Prince Hotel) 21-15 against Billy Walmsley and Holly Hotchkiss (Prince Hotel).
Unfortunately, the rain became torrential but the semi-finals were completed with Dan and Nicki winning 21-9 against Ian and Claire and Lee and Charleigh beating Jamie and Julie 21-20.
Due to the rain it was not possible to play the final so this was played a week later with Lee and Charleigh playing very well to beat Dan and Nicki 21-13. The Frank and Mabel Edwards Trophy was presented to the winners.
Thanks were extended by the Competitions Secretary to all entrants, the Prince Hotel and to Dan Morris from DJM Plumbing and Heating Services for sponsoring the competition and for prizes on the day.
