On a sunny day at Bicton Bowling Club 12 pairs entered the Frank and Mabel Edwards mixed doubles competition. In the quarter finals Jenna Parsons and Steve Duckett won 21 – 10 v Holly Hotchkiss and Billy Walmsley, Cerys and Rhys Marshall won 21 – 13 v Mel Wornell and Rich Carr, Karen Bennett and Megis Phillips won 21 – 7 v Rachel Harrison and Ben Carr and Nicki Hotchkiss and Dan Wornell won 21 – 4 v Lee and Isla Walmsley. Both semi-finals were closely contested games with Cerys and Rhys winning 21 – 17 v Jenna and Steve and Nicki and Dan winning 21 – 16 v Karen and Megis. Cerys and Rhys won the final 21 – 5 v Nicki and Dan. Congratulations go to Cerys and Rhys, two young players who bowled very well all day to win the trophy for the first time. Thanks were extended to Bicton Bowling Club for their hospitality and excellent green and also to the sponsors, Mr Neil Jones and Mr Steve Griffiths of SMG Plumbing and Home Improvements.
