Prince Hotel have always enjoyed the Team Doubles competition and won the Shield for the fourth year running, making a total of 12 wins since the competition started in 1996.
This year’s final was against Crescent and was a very tight affair. With the handicaps identical it went down to the aggregate and the Prince won by just one chalk.
Nigel Ferrington and Darren Powis gave them a good start with 21-9 and Ellis Griffiths and Danny Wornell added a 21-10 at the end. A great card from the Crescent’s Gareth Ingram and Mark Rogers 21-5 in the second half of the match almost pulled it back for them but it was not quite enough.
