Mark Harris and Danny Wornell retained the Terry and June Sambrook Doubles Cup with a close 21-17 win against Perry Evans and Keith Wall at the Prince of Wales Hotel Bowling Club’s green. This was also the second time Danny has won the trophy in consecutive years having previously won it with Tony Parsons in 2014 and 2015.
There were an impressive 29 entries, which made for a long and enjoyable day with some good bowling from players from a wide age range, which was particularly encouraging with so many youngsters taking part.
Mark and Danny’s route to the final saw them first beating Jacob Wall and Jacob Lyttle 21-16, followed by Anthony and Michael Gray 21-6, Rhys Marshall and Maisy Parsons 21-4 and Steve Ashton and Greg Jones 21-9 in the semi-final.
