Burway, runners up in last season’s competition, won the Champagne Cup on Saturday evening with a comfortable 44 chalk win over Prince Hotel B on Old Shrewsbury No. 2 green. They went 4-0 up with man of the match Anthony Rogers 21-7. However, the key card was Vivian Cooper’s recovery from 6-15 down to win 21-17, giving the South Shopshire side a 33 chalk lead off the front. Camilla Parsonage ensured the result was never in doubt with a 21-6 at No. 9. Best of four Prince winners were Rhys Marshall and Chris Wilson with 21-13.
