The Elephant & Castle’s Jamie Brooks and Stuart Greaves were the winners of the Terry and June Sambrook Doubles played at Old Shrewsbury on Sunday 29th July, beating Prince Hotel’s mother and son pairing of Jenna and Rhys Marshall 21-13 in the final.
Their run to the final saw them beat Crescent’s Jason Evans and Dan Williams 21-10 in the semi finals and Ian Marshall (Prince Hotel) and Harry Ryder (Battlefield) 21-18 in the quarter finals. Jenna and Rhys overcame Competition Secretary Graeme Wornell and Hayden Lewis (Telepost) 21-20 in the semi final, having beaten Ernie Shea (Severnside St Julians) and Pat Hart (OSBC) 21-10 in the quarters.
There was an entry of 26 pairs and sponsors Terry and June Sambrook kindly offered an additional £100 for a consolation competition to be run. This was won by Prince Hotel pair Nigel Ferrington and Darren Powis who beat Dave Hanson (Elephant & Castle) and Charlotte Butler (Prince Hotel) 21-10. In the semi final they beat Steve Duckett and Daryl Edwayds of Castlefields 21-19, whilst the other semi finalists were Amy Ryder (Battlefield) and Rich Addison (Telepost).
