Amongst the matters discussed, including a successful Presentation Evening which generated a profit for League, were rule changes which will go forward to the Annual Meeting on 27th January 2017:

Proposed by Bagley BC and seconded by Wem BC – That teams competing in the Shropshire Divisions (i.e. Fridays) should consist of 10 players instead of 12.

Proposed by Bayston Hill BC and seconded by Monkmoor BC – No division shall consist of more than 14 teams.

Proposals put forward by the Management Committee:

Any new team application must be accompanied by a £50 payment, refundable at the end of the season provided that team completes their fixtures.

Any club which withdraws a team after the 1st March will be charged a £50 levy.

Tanner Cup – All first division teams will be exempt from the 1st Round of the Tanner Cup and thus not eligible to compete in the Champagne Cup. This experiment to be trialled over the next two seasons.

It was also reported that the Charity Fours Competition held at the end of the season raised £500 for the Severn Hospice and included £200 kindly donated by sponsor Rob Jones. This was despite only eight teams entering. It was agreed that at the Annual Meeting all clubs be invited to donate £5 to next season’s competition and any clubs that do so will have free entry to the four a side competition.

Following the sad passing away of League stalwart, Chris Kelly, his family has presented the League with a cheque which will be used to buy four perpetual ‘Player of the Match’ trophies for the Tanner, Champagne, Fullwood and Scadding Cups.

It was agreed that the Team Doubles competition will be held from September and teams will consist of six pairs, instead of the current eight pairs, and that this be trialled for two years.

The President, Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Competitions Secretary and the four  Management Committee members confirmed their willingness to stand again in 2017, although anyone else wishing to be appointed to any of these positions was invited to put their name forward.

All clubs are reminded that any rule changes must be with the League Secretary by 31st December 2016.

The next League Executive Meeting will be held at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday 12th January 2017 at the Bagley Bowling Club.
